Keeping it "clean"

There has been a lot of talk about clean food lately, but there has also been a lot of confusion about what clean food actually is.
Contrary to what some people are saying, food is not put into two categories: clean and dirty. The clean food movement started as a way for people to actively engage in their diet by encouraging them to find out what they are eating and where this food was coming from.
According to Jaclyn London, Nutrition Director for Good Housekeeping, even though the clean food movement called for people to eat lots of “whole, real foods,” the original concept “seemed to be a call to action for understanding the traceability of our food.”

Garden-Fresh Foods to help combat hunger

Milwaukee - Garden-Fresh Foods is joining with the Refrigerated Foods Association to help combat hunger. The Milwaukee-based food producer plans to donate more than 900 pounds of deli products in support the RFA's third Deli Salad Month in July – an annual effort to give back to the community where, on average, one in seven people struggle each day to get enough to eat.
“We have an obligation to the communities we serve,” said Tom Hughes, Garden-Fresh Foods Co-Founder, President and CEO. “We’ve all heard the stories about how much food is wasted every year. Efforts like this not only raise awareness to that, but they also get good, healthy food to the people who need it most.”
The RFA works with Feeding America, a national network of 200 food banks, to coordinate the annual Deli Salad Month campaign. According to the organization, the Feeding America network provides over 3.7 billion meals to 1 in 7 Americans in need of healthy foods.
Garden-Fresh Foods regularly supports local food banks and has donated nearly 1,500 pounds of food in April and May of this year, with a retail value of almost $5,500, to food pantries in the Milwaukee area.
“It’s not something we generally brag about,” Hughes said. “We do it because it’s just the right thing to do.”

Appealing to people who crave sea-salted caramel, a unique European take on traditional coleslaw and the bold flavors of Morocco and Korea, the Milwaukee-based company plans to unveil:
